Changing health, dental or vision plans
What if I Want to Change Plans Now and Cannot Wait?
You can change your plans once within 3 months from the date your child was enrolled. If this is the case, you do not have to wait until Open Enrollment to change plans. To find out what plans are available to you, click here.
If you want to change plans, call 1-866-848-9166. You can call between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The call is free! Or, send your written request to:
Healthy Families Program
P.O. Box 138005
Sacramento, CA 95813-8005
Or, fax your request, toll-free to:
1-866-848-4974
Healthy Families will process your request. This may take up to 40 days. Healthy Families will send you a letter telling you if your request is approved. If approved, the letter will tell you when coverage with the new plans begins.
Note: Starting November 1, 2009, dental plan choices for some families who do not have any child enrolled in Healthy Families for two (2) consecutive years will be limited to certain dental plans. Two (2) consecutive years means that your child is (or was previously) enrolled in Healthy Families for 2 years without a break in coverage.

What if I Can’t Establish a Good Relationship with the Plan?
Plan changes can only be made once within the first 3 months of enrollment or during Open Enrollment. If you cannot establish a good relationship with the plan, you may submit a letter to the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board (MRMIB). MRMIB is the state board that oversees the Healthy Families Program. Send the letter to:
Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board (MRMIB)
PO Box 2769
Sacramento, CA 95812-2769
Or, fax your request to: 1-916-327-9661
MRMIB will process your request and will let you know if your transfer is approved. You can reach MRMIB at 1-916-327-6560 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
