Apply online through Health-e-App (HeA)
Health-e-App is an easy-to-use, interactive, online application process that is an alternative to the paper application process. Using HeA when applying for the Healthy Families Program (HFP) and/or Medi-Cal has many advantages over the traditional paper application.
The advantages of using HeA include the following features:
- Ability to track the status of each application
- Preliminary eligibility screening in just seconds
- Immediate error checking to improve quality of application information
- Electronic payment of the HFP initial monthly premium
- Automated computing of income and deductions
- Electronic signatures
- Scan and attach supporting documents (i.e. proof of income, copy of birth certificate)
The information gathered is then submitted electronically via the Internet, rather than a paper application by mail.
PUBLIC USER
If you would like to use HeA to apply for HFP or Medi-cal for your child or pregnancy please go to Health-e-App, select your language and create your account profile by clicking on “Create an Account”.
If you have a Healthy Families Family Member Number (FMN) and an existing HeA account, you can link them. When you link your FMN to your HeA account, you can use HeA for case management; such as completing your Annual Eligibility Review, Add a Person applications, Program Reviews and Continued Enrollment forms.
To link your Healthy Families FMN with HeA account you will need to request a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Have your Family Member Number ready.
You can also request a PIN by logging into your HeA account and clicking "Access My Healthy Families Account" on your dashboard.
To reset forgotten passwords, ask questions, or report problems with HeA, please contact the Health-e-App Helpdesk at 1-866-861-3443 or email: HFHeA@MAXIMUS.com, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The application process takes an average of 20 to 30 minutes, please be sure to have your income and deductions/expenses (If any) information ready to enter it in the application.
CERTIFIED APPLICATION ASSISTANTS (CAA) AND ENROLLMENT ENTITIES (EE)
EEs and CAAs, who currently have an account in Health-e-App, please log in with your existing User Name and Password, AND follow the instructions on how to update your account profile in the new HeA.
EEs and CAAs, the “Create Account” link shown in the log in page of the new HeA is only for the Public Users to set up an account and submit their application.
Enrollment Entities (EEs) using HeA for the first time may contact the Health-e-App Helpdesk at 1-866-861-3443 to have an account created. Once an account has been created in HeA, the EE may login and create the accounts for their CAAs.
