Kaiser Permanente Is Not Available
Starting October 1, 2007, Kaiser Permanente is no longer available in Kern and Orange counties. If families are applying for the first time or re-applying, Kaiser is not available. This does not affect children who are currently enrolled in Kaiser.
If families already chose Kaiser on their applications, Healthy Families will contact them. Healthy Families will ask them to choose another plan. Families can provide their new plan choice over the phone or send it in a letter.
If Healthy Families doesn’t receive the families’ new selection, the children will be enrolled in the community provider plan.
Here are examples of when Kaiser will still be available:
- Child’s Healthy Families coverage should not have ended. And, the child is reinstated into the program with no break in coverage. The child will stay with Kaiser.
- Healthy Families receives a "Kaiser Validation Form." This Form is something that Kaiser gives to the families. Healthy Families doesn’t issue this Form.
- A new child is just starting to get Healthy Families coverage and is added to a family’s account. The children that already have Healthy Families have Kaiser.
